Neighborhood Special Events
We are always looking for special events our neighbors would enjoy. If you have a suggestion for a special event, please reach out by email to burnslaneresidentsassociation@gmail.com.
Each month, a BLRA email is sent with the dates and times, hosts, and addresses for upcoming events. If you’ve not attended in the past, give them a try. We look forward to getting to know our neighbors.
Upcoming Events
Monthly happy hours help us stay in touch as we enjoy the hospitality of our neighbors.

William and Mary Campus Food Exchange
Even on campuses and communities with strong resources and various dining facilities, students, staff, and faculty can sometimes find themselves struggling to find a meal or a way to make their money last a little longer. And when someone is hungry, their educational attainment and lives can be dramatically affected.
This confidential program aims to alleviate hunger and need on campus by providing W&M students, staff, faculty, and dependent family members with food insecurities access to non-perishable food items, personal hygiene items, and household items while school is in session. Anyone with a valid W&M ID is welcome to access the shopping-style pantry. It is housed in the Wesley House and run by a team of Wesley students, residents and board members, and W&M faculty members.
For more information, visit W&M Campus Food Exchange.

Women’s Happy Hour

The women of the Burns Lane neighborhood meet about once per month for a BYOB happy hour. The date varies, but the times are the same: starting at 5 p.m. and generally ending by 6:30 p.m. We all take turns hosting.
Men’s Happy Hour
The men of the Burns Lane neighborhood also have BYOB Happy Hours, although not every month. These events also start at 5 p.m. and generally end by 6:30 p.m. with rotating hosts.
Neighborhood Picnic
The neighborhood picnic is the social event of the year! Everyone is welcome and it is great fun to gather and enjoy visiting and showing off your knowledge of neighborhood trivia. The main course is provided and neighbors pot luck their specialties. Yummy!

Annual Membership Meeting
Our Burns Lane Residents Alliance (“BLRA”) annual meeting is held during the neighborhood picnic.
Please join us for the meeting, so you will be able to visit with neighbors and so we will have a quorum for our meeting!
The most important function at the meeting is the election of BLRA board members and voting on any amendments to the by-laws. Emails are sent in advance to let everyone know which neighbors are running for open spots on the BLRA board. Bios are sent by email prior to the meeting/picnic.
Note that only members in good standing are eligible to vote for the Board of Directors and by-law amendments. One vote per household. Please pay your dues in advance to the board treasurer or at the welcome desk at the picnic. Checks should be made payable to “Burns Lane Residents Alliance”. Complete the BLRA Membership Form.
Cyber Security Awareness Training
The City of Williamsburg is offering free training to residents. To sign up, enter williamsburgva.gov/cybersecurity into your browser, fill out the form to verify your residency, then follow the directions in the email.
